Classy sparkler with oodles of flavour and a creamy finish.  This is a mix of Chardonnay with some local grapes and as a consequence it has a bit of additional gravitas. We love its apple crumble-like quality.  Layers of green apple, orange and lime express themselves nicely in the light bubbles.  An Albet i Noya superstar.  75cl.

Alc. 12% by vol.  Low sulphur.  Vegan.  The Can Vedrell estate, home of Albet i Noya, can boast a viticultural heritage stretching back to the middle ages. The Albet family links go back as far as 1903 when they were instrumental in overseeing the replanting of the vineyards after the ravages of Phylloxera. However it was not until the early 1970s that the fourth generation of the family, in the guise of Josep Maria, started the pioneering work on introducing organic viticulture to the estate. The first wines produced from these organically grown grapes were offered to the market in 1978 earning Albet i Noya the position as the first organic wine producer in Spain. During more recent times, the family has acquired outright ownership of the entire estate and have been undertaking a process of continuous renovation of the cellar and fine-tuning of their working practices.

Thanks to his sustainable wine-growing practices and quality terroir, this is a vintage that deserves a place in any celebration. This organic wine is bold, with strong bready notes and a fine balance and weight. Produced from Pinot Noir grapes, the champagne is both delicate and fruity. You'll love the strong raspberry flavour that comes out of the vintage, with accents of ginger and vanilla to back it up. There are piercing aromatic notes of lemon wax, red fruit, and hazelnut, and a mouth-wateringly perfect balance between acidity and sweetness.  300cl.

Alc. 12% by vol.  Originally founded in 1895, this fine biodynamic Champagne producer was the first to plant grafted Pinot Noir vines in the area post-phylloxera. In 1928 Fleury were the first grower in the Côtes de Bars region (Aube) to produce and bottle their own Champagne and in 1929 it was Robert Fleury who decided to make single-vintage Champagnes. Having taken over the reins of the setate in 1962, it was Jean-Pierre Fleury who became the first grower in Champagne to convert to biodynamics. A avid follower of alternative medicine and a lover of nature he began his quest to convert the entire estate to biodynamic viticulture. He began with just 3 hectares in 1989, then in 1992 the whole estate was converted, becoming the first Champagne producer to do so. Their vineyard holdings now total some 15 hectares. All are certified by Ecocert and accredited to Demeter. Based in Courtheron in the Aube (southern part of Champagne), all Fleury vineyards lie on chalky slopes on both sides of the Seine valley, 85% are planted with Pinot Noir, 10% Chardonnay and the rest with Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. Soils are very similar to those found in Chablis. All vineyard work is done by hand and the ploughing is done by horse. Instead of chemical treatments, they use composting and natural "teas". Quartz silica is sprayed on the vine leaves in order to reinforce the photosynthesis process. On the soil, preparations that favour the health of microbial life are applied, usually in spring and in autumn, and especially at specific cosmic moments determined by a planetary calendar. ‘The key is soil health’, says Jean-Sébastien. ‘We must keep the earth healthy. The structure of the soil gives back the essence of the terroir’. Three of Jean-Pierre's children now work in the family business: Benoît, tending the vineyards and vines, Jean-Sébastien being responsible for all cellar work and Morgane, a qualified sommelier and consultant, in charge of the marketing and exports. A large portion of the grapes used in this wine have their origin in our new cooler areas closer to the coast. This has given us better acids and ripeness at lower sugar levels. The grapes were cooled on crushing and cold-soaked for around two days before yeast inoculation. The yeast was chosen to maximise mouthfeel and preserve fruit and colour. The wine is pressed off after two thirds through the fermentation and press juice is kept separate. The wine exhibits characteristic Cabernet traits and has ripe tannins and no harsh edges.
