Description
Sussex Velvet Organic is a semi-soft continental style cheese based on our popular St Giles cheese.
Made by hand using organic cow milk it is carefully matured for around 16 weeks in our cheese store. Sussex Velvet is then allowed to gradually develop its attractive natural mottled grey rind and its dense, yet smooth velvety texture and full herbaceous flavour deepens.
Sussex Velvet Organic won a Bronze at the British Cheese Awards in 2022.
CHEESE FACT
Sussex Velvet is a washed curd cheese. It is made in a similar way to High Weald Dairy’s Seven Sisters (sheep milk) and Sister Sarah (goat milk) cheeses. However, it has a much more buttery texture due to the large size of the butter fat molecules.
